Diatom – Long lasting residual control of Red Mite 2kg
- Use in conjunction with Poultry Shield to give maximum control
- Prepared from the fossilised remains of ancient shelled creatures and so is totally inert – and safe to humans and animals
- Red mites hide during daylight hours, emerging at night to find their hosts
- They multiply rapidly – each adult mite will lay upto 100 eggs per day
- Seven days after being laid, each egg can become an egg laying adult!
- They are protected by a waxy outer shell. It is this shell that Diatom breaks down
- Begin treatment before signs of mite are seen – once visible to the naked eye the problem is much harder to control
- Scatter a handful of diatom around the perch and nesting area – at a rate of 50gms per square metre
- Repeat once or twice per week depending on level of infestation
